Deblur My Image

Motion correction needs more efford than out-of-focus correction.
But you can do it in several steps as well.

1. step

Open the blurred image for example using Windows Drag & Drop. Press the yellow arrow on the toolbar for motion correction.

2. step

In this step you need to tell the application how was the image moved durring exposition. Without telling this, application cannot deblur the image. Moreover its crucial for the debluring to tell it as exactly as possible. Good result can be produced only by an exact movement marking.

It is a good idea to trace corners of objects or light points on dark background in image to be sure, how was the camera moved.

Well, how to mark the movement? Just use Ctrl key and left mouse button to mark how the camera moved durring the exposition. Application will draw a smooth curve going through the given points. Once you mark the points you can move them using Drag&Drop. Moreover there it is a context menu on right button - you can delete the point or duplicate it to make the movement description more detailed.

Or you can enter your own PSF instead of it. The PSF is the image of a single light point. For example we can use as the PSF the image of the star. The easist way, how to use this feature is to crop the image of the star and save it. This image you can enter to the application using the button "Import my own psf".

Typical PSF looks like this:

or like this

The PSF is obtained from the Eiffel image.

There are 4 different types of deblurring:
  • Basic - doesn't need much memory and it is pretty fast.
  • Progressive - it is the best out-of-focus correction, but it is memory demanding.
  • Smooth - this is the only method that can suppress the noise.
  • Global - really good method for deconvolution with big motion blur.

You can see a preview(check preview checkbox) for every movement marking. In the preview rectangle might be wrong colors/color schema but structures will be preserved if the camera movement was marked correctly. But don't worry, when you deblur whole image, colors will be reconstructed correctly.

  • 3. step

Now runs the whole picture deblurring. You can abort it or wait till it is done.

    4. step

    Save the result.
