Image Deblurring - Description

DeblurMyImage is a cheap shareware application that is translated to: English, Swedish, Czech, German, French, Dutch, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Macedonian, Norwegian and Italian.

Now the DeblurMyImage is implemented as a plugin for Photoshop and as a standalone application with GUI as well.

DeblurMyImage works in two modes:

Out of focus correction
Motion correction
Both modes are very similar and use the same algorithms. They differ only in the way they assist you to specify blur kernel for reconstruction. In the first mode you specify the size of the kernel, in the second mode you specify the path along which the image blurred.

We have implemented four different algorithms for deblurring. They differ by computation/memory demands. Deblurring methods generally amplify digital noise in photo.

The first implemented method can work with noise and does not amplify it as much. The second method is fast, and does not need much memory. The third method deblurs very agressively and the fourth method is absolutely stable and does not diverge anytime.

From the world of science: The scientific term for deblurring is deconvolution. There exists a wide range of deconvolution algorithms that differ by memory and computation demands and the way they deal with noise and PSF. These algorithms can be applied to volume data as well, for 3D deconvolution. 3D deconvolution is now widely used in microscopy. Developments in deconvolution are still progressing, the latest major paper was published in 2009.
